Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a natural, safe, holistic health care specialty that focuses on the care and maintenance of the spine as well as the rest of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic care also advocates proper nutrition, exercise, and resting habits as essential components of a healthy lifestyle.

Your spine and musculoskeletal system bear your weight, protect your brain, spinal cord and vital organs, and allow you to move about and interact with your world. Whatever stresses that you as an individual place on your own spine and musculoskeletal system are unique to you, but whatever those stresses may be, we humans do tend to be creatures of habit. Therefore, the postures that you stand, sit, and sleep in, the way you walk, how you lift and carry; we all do these things over and over again, day after day. With time and repetition of improper habits, some part of your spine is likely trying to cope with these repeated stresses. Your body will try to compensate for these stresses for as long as it can, but we can only compensate for so long.

Eventually, real problems begin to develop and pain and inflammation set in. Often this begins as tightness and soreness in overstrained muscles, and progresses to the point of causing pain and spasms, and limited mobility. Eventually, if left untreated, these issues can begin to cause structural injury to the joints, ligaments, and muscles, and can even result in irritation of nerve roots as they exit the spine. This can lead to localized pain as well as radiating pain, numbness, tingling into your arms, legs, feet, or hands, and decreased function of the affected nerves.

In addition to addressing problems that develop gradually as a result of repetitive bad habits, postures, and behaviors, Chiropractic can also treat injuries that arise suddenly from direct trauma, falls, automobile accidents, etc.

What makes Chiropractic care special is that we strive to find the root CAUSE of your symptoms rather than simply trying to treat the symptoms themselves. To do this, we will review your history; assess your gait, your posture, your muscle balance, ranges of motion, orthopedic and neurologic function, sleep habits, and more. Once we have completed our evaluation, we will review our findings with you and make care recommendations that meet your needs.
